Research Interests:

  • Mechanisms of regeneration of tooth supporting tissues (alveolar bone, cementum and periodontal ligament) using recombinant amelogenin protein and amelogenin-engineered mesenchymal stem cells
  • Mechanisms of regeneration of calvarial bone, long bone, and ligaments using recombinant amelogenin protein.
  • Deciphering the function(s) of amelogenin during mouse embryonic craniofacial development and during embryonic Xenopus development, and the molecular pathways involved.
  • The role of various enamel proteins during enamel development, in normal and disease.
  • The role of various enamel proteins during mouse embryonic craniofacial development.
  • Deciphering the function(s) of tuftelin during normoxia and hypoxia in the mouse brain, PC12 neuronal cell model, and mesenchymal stem cells, and during cancer progression.
  • Deciphering the function(s) of tuftelin during mouse embryonic craniofacial development and during embryonic zebrafish development, and the molecular pathways involved.
